The new concert hall of Amsterdam, "Muziekgebouw aan ’t IJ", was officially opened on 15 June 2005. It is situated between the newly-redeveloped banks of IJ and the old heart of the city. The Muziekgebouw aan ’t IJ will concentrate on the contemporary music. It has been designed by the Danish firm of architects, 3xNielsen. The building has two halls : a large concert hall seating 735 (standing room for 1,500) and a smaller hall seating over 100. The larger hall has variable acoustics and very flexible arranging. The cost is estimated over 50 millions Euros.
