Port Reunion constitutes the lungs of an island in a full economic boom. Over 10 years, it has produced an average annual growth of over 5% and in 2004 experienced a growth of 13.3%. In the heart of the Indian Ocean, it captures 70% of the container traffic originating in Europe and is well positioned on the route between Asia and East and South Africa. As from 2006, Port Reunion will engage 154 million euros in extension works in order to face this growth and a certain growing impatience of the operators present there. 4th French port of National interest, it could remain under the control of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Reunion. Stocktaking and projects.
