Two ornithological observation posts were set up in the estuary of the Seine on the 29th November 2005. These installations are included in the context of the environmental chapter of Port 2000 that represents a total budget of 46 million Euros. They notably complete the arrangements for environmental information organised by the Maison de l'Estuaire.

Les postes d'observation ont été conçus par le cabinet d’architectes havrais Reymond et fabriqués par l'entreprise CEMAT. Ce nouvel outil devrait être pleinement opérationnel au deuxième semestre 2006 après achèvement d’autres aménagements en cours au nord du reposoir.
Cette opération intervient en même temps que l'installation d’une vanne qui permet désormais d’ajuster tout au long de l’année les niveaux d'eau dans le reposoir aux besoins des oiseaux, aménagement jugé nécessaire par les ornithologues pour que le site puisse les attirer en plus grand nombre.
