The Dublin Docklands Development Authority has just won a new award for their contribution to the quality of life in the Irish Capital. The prize was given in the presence of Catherine Byrne, Lord Mayor; Aine Maria Mizzoni, President of the Chamber of Commerce ; and Maeve Donovan, Director of the Irish Times. (20/01/2006).

The Irish Times Living Dublin Awards celebrate groups, individuals and businesses working to improve the quality of life in Dublin City and County. The aim is to recognise and reward those people and to encourage others to follow their example. The Awards are run by the Dublin Chamber of Commerce and Dublin City Council and are sponsored by The Irish Times. There are five categories - Community Development, Business in the Community, Culture & Tourism, Education and Dublin City Neighbourhoods.
The Irish Times Living Dublin Awards was judged by over fifteen adjudicators including CEO, Business in the Community, Ms Tina Roche; Irish Times Managing Editor, Gerry Smyth; President of Dublin City University, Professor Ferdinand von Prondzynski; Senator David Norris; and Executive Director, St. Patrick’s Festival, Mr. Donal Shiels.
The Dublin Docklands Development Authority was declared the Overall Winner and also took first place in the Culture & Tourism Category, for their initiative to bring life back to the River Liffey. The Docklands Maritime Festival attracted over 45,000 visitors, to what was once before a derelict warehouse district and is now a thriving riverfront setting.
