Colombian ports are impatient

The signing of a Free Trade Agreement, presently under discussion with the USA, will surely encourage this trend and attract foreign investors. In the light of this sign of renewed confidence, operators are rediscovering the way to the country : for example Maersk, which has moved its hub from Manzanillo (Panama) to Cartagena. In this port, as in Buenaventura, Baranquilla and Santa Marta, there is an urgent need for investment. The regional port companies concerned have presented their development projects to the government. Start of work on these projects (presented in this file) also depends on negotiations with the government on the renewing of concessions which are in progress.
