The economic growth is stimulating the activity of the Argentinean ports. In 2005, for example, the containerised traffic of the port of Buenos Aires grew by 20%. Modifications are necessary in matters of infrastructures, such as the construction of a by-pass for the port of Rosario. Questions are being posed also regarding the concessions of terminals or again regarding the emplacements of port activities. Thus, the Mayor of Buenos Aires considers that cargo traffics should be removed from the city centre for the sites of Campanha and Ensenada (La Plata) in order to reduce the congestion of the city and pollution.
