A call for offers for 49.9% of the capital of HHLA, the main operator of the port of Hamburg had been launched and negotiations were under way. The Hamburg Senate has finally opted to put shares on the market and will maintain their participation at a level of 70%. The Land will thus conserve control over HHLA that the sale of nearly half the capital to a single partner was far from guaranteeing. Although less important, the income from this introduction on the market should suffice to finance port investments until 2012.
