In the old days, the old dock was used for handling imported timber and for wood-processing operations. The newly created business site is divided into plots of land ranging from 1,000 to 5,000 square meters. Stadhaven Minerva, which translates as Minerva CityPort, is meant for creative artisan-style companies and small-scale manufacturing companies keen to establish themselves in newly built self-designed industrial buildings located on their own plots of land. These companies will be setting up shop at a location with a strong sense of community, synergy, dynamism and opportunity. It will be a place where the occupants can still smell and hear the nearby port activities.
This particular part of Amsterdamis now slowly evolving from a historic port area into a versatile industrial site. The new arrivals will get a lot of leeway in designing their buildings.
A number of companies have already set up shop, paving the way for others. Together, they will make things happen at an authentic industrial location where you can still feel the hustle and bustle of port-related companies. Among these pioneering businesses is Barts, which produces clothing accessories for winter sports. Amsterdam Alderman Lodewijk Asscher opened its new industrial building here, thereby also ushering in a new beginning for this location, whose development will help to create more jobs within Amsterdam's historic city center.
