The port city of London, where several sites are listed as World Heritage, has been the subject of a case study by UNESCO on the foreseeable consequences of climatic change. According to projections, the level of the waters of the Thames estuary should rise by 0.26 to 0.86 metres by 2080. This data, combined with other factors, requires anticipatory measures, taking into account the economic weight of the waterway for the city. Already a programme Estuary 2100 Project (TE2100) has been set up to monitor developments and to advise on the suitable measures of protection.
