The new government of Canada has announced the merger of the ports of Vancouver, North Fraser and Fraser River under a single authority between now and January 2008. This new entity will be called the Vancouver Fraser Port Administration. The announced objective is to optimise the planning and competitiveness of the port to provide Canada with an international level gateway on its Pacific coast.
