The Colombian Government and the Sociedad portuaria regional de Buenaventura S.A. have reached an agreement to extend the port concession until 2034. Over this period an investment of 450 million dollars is planned in order to improve the infrastructures and to develop the competitiveness of the port. 50% will be engaged in the immediate 2007-2008 period, in order notably to develop 600 metres of additional quayside destined to receive the bigger vessels.
