The recent presence of representatives of Dubai Ports World in Salvador testifies to all the interest that DP World is showing for the new "Puerto de la Union" project which should become the main ocean terminal between Manzanillo (Mexico) and the Panama Canal. DP World is already installed in 51 ports in 30 countries (including Canada, the Dominican Republic, Venezuela, Argentine, and Peru). The interest manifested by this international operator has been judged at its just measure by the Vice-President of the Republic, and also because of their capacity to manage Free Zones and to attract international business firms to them. Various concession possibilities are currently under study, including a model designed by Fondacion Valencia Port (Spain).
