During a joint press conference, the Slovene Prime Minister Janez Jansa and his Italian opposite number Romano Prodi called for the creation of a port on the Adriatic resulting from the merger of the port of Trieste and that of Koper. According to Romano Prodi, the port of Rijeka (Croatia) should even also join in the project so as to create an economic space of a sufficient critical size.
