Author: AIVPOn sale date: Thursday, 20 September 2007Type of document: ReportLanguage: English, French, SpanishA great success has been registered for the first stage in the publication of the IACP book on the modernity of port cities ! At the end of the initial call for mobilisation, over fifty or so members of our Association, from all over the world sent to the General Secretariat a rough total of about 2300 photographs illustrating all the aspects of the modernity of the port cities. It should be noted that certain members, particularly motivated by the project, had photographs of their city and port specially taken by talented professional photographers. Following a rigorous selection carried out to fit in with a precise story board adopted several months ago, unfortunately only 450 to 500 photographs will be retained to illustrate the 12 chapters of the publication. The gigantic proportions of the infrastructures, bustling landscapes, extraordinary vessels, unknown tradecrafts, but also magnificent waterfronts, revisited heritage, natural protected areas or tourist revivals are some of the themes covered by this superb work being prepared. All the members of IACP wishing to support this magnificent initiative to put into value the drive and originality of port cities cannot fail to respond favourably to the call for subscriptions to acquire, in 2008, THE book on port cities.
