The Port of Bordeaux has laid down their development strategy in a port community charter, the fruit of consultations with the State and local governments. A major axis of this policy lies in a determined approach oriented towards sustainable development. The port underlines the principles of this which include preservation of the environment, protection of the individual and economic development. All aspects of port activities are integrated in this policy, including the rehabilitation of port and industrial wastelands.
