On the 2nd and 3rd April last in Livorno (Italy), L.E.M. "Livorno Euro Mediterranea" inaugurated the Observatory for the security of maritime transport " (Osservatorio sulla sicurezza dei trasporti maritime).

This Observatory stemmed from the project for the promotion of the culture of security and safety in maritime transport undertaken by the City of Livorno with a financing from the Italian Ministry for Infrastructures and Transport. The Observatory has the objective of providing a centre of competence and becoming the reference in matters of security and risks relative to maritime transport in the Mediterranean.
The inauguration was followed by an international seminar concerning the ISPS Code "International Ship and Port facility Security".
