Between 2002 and 2003, the commercial traffic of the ports of La Réunion increased by 7.4%, confirming the drive of maritime activities in the island. Work is being undertaken, notably for putting into service in 2006 of a new 650 metre quay and deepening the approach channel. In all, the master-plan drawn up in 1999 plans for an investment of 75 million euros.
