To be carried out on the basis of a joint venture with SSA Marine (USA), work is estimated at 60 million US$. In 1996 a first project of the government planned for 6 new additonal berths for the port, built in 1988, to bring its capacity upto 7 million tonnes per annum. Only three of them have been completed. Estmations are tabling on 10 million tonnes in 2010.
