couverture du livre Atlas Afrique AFDAIVP recommends adding the new atlas published by France’s Development Agency, the AFD, to your reading list. Titled “Atlas de l’Afrique AFD – Pour un autre regard sur le continent” (“AFD Atlas of Africa –A Different View of the Continent”), the book contains over 100 maps and explains how Africa is moving towards the 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

Africa aiming to meet SDGs by 2030

At AIVP, which has 30 African members, we have been working on that continent since 1994 and are well aware of the rapid pace of change towards more sustainable, more inclusive forms of development. Our members are playing a prominent and pro-active role in efforts to achieve the SDGs by 2030. Incidentally, 14 of them have already ratified the AIVP 2030 Agenda, which adapts the UN’s 17 Sustainable Development Goals to the specific contact of port cities. By signing the AIVP 2030 Agenda, our members are making a public commitment to reach those goals by 2030.

AIVP, a laboratory of ideas for African development

We have previously shared some of the best practices adopted by our African members, whether in terms of eco-efficiency as in Douala, or consultation between city and port in Kribi.

AIVP also organises seminars, providing an opportunity to share practices and develop ideas. The most recent concerned the Indian Ocean and took place in La Réunion in 2018, with the support of the AFD.

We will be proposing new meetings and discussions for the Indian Ocean in the near future.
