With a branding strategy where the mindset is an Energy Metropolis, Esbjerg are in the process of transforming the city image in Denmark and Internationally. Transforming the city public image as a former smelly city previously due to a large fishing industry, and now to an Energy Metropolis image, needs to combine the forces of the municipality, inhabitants, chamber of commerce, educational institutions, companies and port administration to join the know-how in an effort to brand the city from a new perspective. Using the forces from oil-gas, offshore wind, bioenergy and smart grid businesses locally represented, Esbjerg is in a position to brand the city for long-term growth and development based on its true DNA. Lessons learned with a transformation from fishing industry to offshore industry motivates the city always to be ahead of development. Changing the port city image is crucial for Esbjerg´s future development.
