Drastic measures to reduce cruise tourism to preserve the city of Dubrovnik

With the city hosting some 538 cruise ships this year, the mayor is keen to substantially reduce tourist access to the historic old town. The aim is to cut visitor numbers from 8000 to 4000 per day. Aware of the risk of creating tension with the cruise industry, he believes it is vital to preserve the quality of life of local residents.
