A new valley is being created along a stretch of almost 1.5 km between the naturalized Don River mouth and the inland port. The project is part of a wider reclamation strategy for the site on the Toronto waterfront, which covers several hundred hectares and was once heavily polluted. The strategy will also allow measures to be taken to counter flood risks, and offer new living and leisure areas for residents. A number of meetings have been held, to inform and consult the local population. Waterfront Toronto sees this resilience strategy as its central role, as emphasised by its President and CEO in the organisation’s most recent Integrated Annual Report.
