image 4emecouv 2017_GB image couverture 2017_GBThe Missions Charter of a Port Center, published in 2013 by AIVP and the founding partners of the Port Center Network (PCN), defines in ten points the essential challenges and objectives of any Port Center.

This innovative Charter has already been adopted in more than 13 port-cities which have a Port Center or a Port Center project :

  • Anvers Havencentrum Lillo, Belgium
  • Genoa Port Center, Italy
  • Port Center du Havre, France
  • Ashdod Visitor Center, Israel
  • Livorno Port Center, Italy
  • Port and City of Dublin, Ireland
  • Port and City of Montreal, Canada
  • Transnet National Ports Authority, South Africa
  • Port of Guadeloupe and its port city community, France
  • The Port City of Lorient, France
  • The Port of Quebec, Canada
  • The Port of Vancouver
  • The Port and Port Community of Brussels

The initiative has been blessed by other port networks such as:

  • ESPO (European Sea Ports Organisation)
  • IAPH (Internatinal Association of Ports and Harbours)
  • AAPA (American Association of Port Authorities)
  • Assoporti (Italien Seaports Association)
  • Puertos del Estado (National Spanish port organization)
  • Contship Italia Group, a private operator who with its Porto LAB project, also decided to support and encourage this commitment

The Missions Charter of a Port Center will be very widely developed in the AIVP world-wide network of port-cities. We hope it will accompany all those who are interested in opening their ports to the public, making young people aware of port-related professions and activities, and developing the emergence of a living port-city culture.
