:The Port of Durres Albania’s largest and busiest port is located near the centre of Adriatic Sea, Eastern shore in the heart of Albania’s principal industrial zone. Via the country’s main high way and rail way is well connected to the interior area of Albania. With 2, 2 kilometres of operational quay land 11 berths the Port of Durres is capable to handle about 80% of Albania’s total international Maritimes traffic. The port of Durres currently has a commercial capacity over 5 million tons of bulk and general cargo. Due to its favourable geographic location, the port of Durres has been an active port for over 2600 years, serving as a principal gateway to the Balkans and south Eastern Europe. It is part of the Pan European Transport Corridor, 8-th corridor through the Balkans. The region represents a hinterland of approximately 40 million inhabitants, and encompasses Albania, Kosovo, North Macedonia, parts of Serbia, Bulgaria and Romania. The Port of Durres handles all types of cargo. It is a legal entity, responsible for all port related activities, i.e., cargo handling, maintenance of nautical and port infrastructure, superstructure, equipment and buildings, security, environmental issues. In accordance with forwarders and stevedoring companies carry storage, receiving and delivering of goods to/from road and rail. Durres Port is managed by Durres Port Authority (DPA).
