AIVP and its partners at the Port Center of Le Havre welcome a delegation of Italian teachers (29th September 2014)
The Genoa Port Center and the Local Education Authority of Liguria made a request to AIVP’s Port Center Network through a European project (The Leonardo VetPro Blueline Programme) focussing on the mobility of teachers. The programme gave the opportunity to a delegation of teachers from the technical colleges of La Spezia, Imperia and Genoa to spend a week discovering the port city of Le Havre and meeting with various local stakeholders.
The delegation’s visit took place during the Port Week organised by the Port Center of Le Havre. The aim of the exchange consisted in improving the understanding of each other’s pedagogical approach to familiarizing their students with the port and maritime economy in their area.
After a welcome by municipal authorities of Le Havre and AIVP, the delegation met with a representative of the Local Education Authority of Rouen, who came to speak to them about the “Link Education & Economy” project put in place recently by the French public education system. The group also took part in field trips to the port by bus and boat. They visited the site of the future Ecole Nationale Supérieure Maritime (ENSM), set to open in September 2015. Finally, the week culminated with a visit to the Institut Saint Joseph where the teachers attended an Italian class for 11 year olds. In the medium term, the Port Center of Le Havre hopes to be able to repeat the experience but this time by organising an exchange between students of the port cities of Genoa and Le Havre.
