Ningbo is located midway on the eastern coast of China, in the south of the Yangtze River Delta, and the east part of Zhejiang province. It covers a total area of 9,816 km², with a population of 8.2 million. It is one of the first cities in China opening up to the outside world, a subprovincial and separate planning city, enjoys the same rights as a province in local economic planning and legislation, a city famous for its historical culture, and a China Top Tourism city. Ningbo is famous for its seaport, which is one of 4 top international deep-water ports in Chinese mainland. Ningbo is also an economic centre in east China and has a good combination of traditional industry, port industry and hi-tech industry.
