José Sanchez, a trained architect currently pursuing a Ph.D at the Hafencity University Hamburg, has made the relationship between the city and the port one of the key themes of his doctoral thesis. José will be working with AIVP until the end of April 2016, during which time he will be conducting research in the field of societal integration and the development of the Port Center concept.

After Ashdod (Israel) in 2014 and Dunkirk (France) in 2015, the Port Center Lillo of Antwerp (Belgium) will welcome the third edition of the the third edition of the Citizen Port Meetings organised by the Port Center Network of AIVP. The programme will include a Think Tank experience with on-site visits, international presentations and many exchanges of practices on the latest initiatives in social integration of ports.

Some 25 Brussels-based entrepreneurs met leaders from Grand Port Maritime de Rouen, and the recently created Métropole Rouen Normandie, which is set to join AIVP in 2016. The discussions afforded an opportunity to compare the challenges posed by city-port relations in Rouen and Brussels. This study trip was organised by the CPB, with support from AIVP.

Mr Fredy Ramos Arce, representing the port city of Coquimbo, visited the AIVP head office on 25 August. He was received by Olivier Lemaire, Director General of AIVP.The main object of his visit was to examine the possibilities for cooperation between the two organisations and the opportunity for the city of Coquimbo to become an active member of AIVP.
