Quebec (Canada) : co-build the Port with the citizens and the community

The creation of structures enabling port and urban authorities to set out their requirements and redevelopment strategies represents an opportunity to compare urban and port projects side by side, and to identify any functional incompatibilities or technical impossibilities at an early stage. Dialogue may be opened to include the wider community affected by projects (private partners, population, etc.), helping to anticipate potential conflicts and move projects forward. This approach promotes responsible and sustainable development while strengthening relationships between the city and the port. The Port of Quebec has implemented the Community Relations Committee and the Environmental Citizen Participation Process (ECPP) as key communication channels with local stakeholders. The Community Relations Committee aims to maintain continuous communication, improve project implementation, and gather suggestions from various groups. The ECPP focuses on gaining social recognition for territorial management, enhancing environmental performance, and fostering a positive relationship with the port city community.
