In addition to this important decision, two strategic issues were discussed:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>The first was the Association&#8217;s involvement in the preparations for the 3rd United Nations Conference on the Oceans, scheduled for June 2025. The aim will be to ensure that the voice of port cities is heard on two issues: rising sea levels on the one hand and the decarbonisation of the maritime and port sectors on the other.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>The second focus was on the development of AIVP in North America. With a strong presence in Canada on both the West and East coasts, AIVP has been working for the past 18 months to raise awareness among American port cities, with the first result being an increase in the reputation of AIVP. To intensify this positioning, during the General Assembly, the AIVP Executive Board and the Board of Directors were asked to study the feasibility of setting up a permanent representation in Canada. Discussions will therefore begin in the coming months with the various Canadian and Quebec partners interested in this initiative.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>In addition, the General Meeting was informed of the various activities carried out since the beginning of the year concerning:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>the work of the three working groups: Port Center Group; River Port Cities Group; and Sustainable Cruising Group;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>the implementation of the Antoine Rufenacht International Prize;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>the availability of the AIVP&#8217;s Agenda 2030 self-assessment tool;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>and the launch of the 3rd edition of the online course on sustainable port cities.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>On all these subjects, the General Management is at the disposal of its members to encourage their commitment.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>At the Annual General Meeting on 14 June, AIVP members approved the results for the 2023 financial year.
