The Brazilian Government is coordinating an ambitious program to increase the sustainable practices developed in their port system and valorize the relevant projects already taking place. Since the relationship with the port city territory and local communities are the main priorities, they chose AIVP as their main partner for this mission, that it is coordinated by Prof. Flavia Nico Vasconcelos. Last Wednesday 4th<\/sup> of September the first key action took place with the organization of the \u201cWorkshop on Good Sustainability Practices in Ports\u201d. The goal was to learn about the Agenda 2030 by AIVP, connect to the webinar organized by AIVP with Mr. Mario Girard and Ms. Isabel Moura Ramos, from the ports of Quebec and Lisbon, respectively, and to discuss good practices from different Brazilian ports. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The workshop counted with the presence of Mr. Alex Avila National Secretary of Ports and Waterway Transport, several national port associations, the Ports and Airports Ministry team and Mr. Lavito Bacarissa the executive secretary of the National Commission for the Sustainable Development Goals. The interventions in the workshop were very interesting, including a very broad selection of topics. Portonave moved the participants, proving that the port is capable of changing (and saving) lives. Hidrovias do Brasil presented the innovations created by employees, contributing to their appreciation of the company and their efficiency. The Port Authority of Santos and the company Santos Brasil made a double intervention reminding everyone of the importance of listening to communities and that vulnerabilities of cities are also risks for the port.
