Port of Baie-Comeau Partners with BMI Group to Create Norderra Industrial Hub

The Port of Baie-Comeau (Canada), in partnership with the BMI Group, is transforming the former 2,800-acre paper mill site into the Norderra Multimodal Industrial Hub, a critical link in Canada’s Critical Mineral Corridor (CMC). This strategic collaboration will enhance the port’s capabilities, leveraging its efficient access to global markets via the Atlantic gateway and the Great Lakes-Atlantic Seaway. With scalable facilities, robust infrastructure, and multimodal logistics, the project positions Baie-Comeau as a key economic hub for industrial growth in Quebec and Canada, further strengthening the port’s role in advancing regional and national supply chains

Helsinki’s West Terminal to receive a resident-friendly makeover

Since the former container terminal moved away from Jätkäsaari in 2008, the Port of Helsinki (Finland) has been focused on making the West Terminal an accessible district to the residents. Now, it plans to demolish the old T1 passenger terminal to create space for the new Maritime Centre and the entrance to the harbour tunnel, which will diminish truck traffic in the area. The demolition work will begin in January on the passenger corridors and will be completed during 2025. The harbour field will be expanded with sea fillings towards the south. The port aims to keep this work sustainable by reusing the demolition materials and by preventing dust pollution through watering. It is estimated that the works will be finished in 2032.
