The goal is to integrate certain parts of the city-port interface zone more effectively. Measures to be taken include opening up public spaces, improving access, reorganising activities and improving the environment, with the aim of making Ceuta a more attractive destination for tourists, while boosting the local economy. For the port authorities, the port of Ceuta must be one of the pillars of the city’s economic activity. The synergies created by this action plan will benefit both the port and the city and, as the President of the Port underlines, “The port cannot develop without the city and vice versa”. The new agreement marks the launch of a new project that will transform the area of Cañonero Dato by freeing it from commercial port uses. A positive example in connection with objective 4 of the AIVP Agenda 2030 and its reference to renewed governance via a balanced territorial policy between urban uses and an active port, particularly on the waterfront.
