:The North Adriatic Sea Port Authority (NASPA) is a public body in charge of planning, promoting and monitoring port operations, dredging and overseeing the supply of services of general interest, managing the State Maritime Property. Since the applying of the ports reformation law enacted in 2016 (Decreto Legislativo 4 agosto 2016, n. 169) NASPA includes the Port of Venice (a European core port) and the Port of Chioggia (a European comprehensive port), that are now part of a single comprehensive system. This system is located in a strategically unique position, at the intersection between two Ten-T corridors (Adriatic and Baltic-Adriatic), serving the whole Northeastern area of Italy. It’s also a fully intermodal ro-ro/ro-pax port, thanks to the Fusina Terminal that connects Central Europe with Africa and the Middle East. The system can count also on river connections within the Pianura Padana. The Port of Venice is a multipurpose port, handling all kind of goods (break bulk, perishable products, dry bulk, containers and reefer containers…) and also passengers (cruises, ro-pax, river cruises, yacht). The industrial port is operating in various production chains, such as iron and steel, agribusiness, chemical and energetic products. Chioggia is mainly focused on dry bulk and break bulk, as well as fishing and tourism. The whole system has a central role from a socio-economic point of view, including more than 1.500 companies operating, with almost 21.200 workers in total.
