The wealth and the diversity of the initiatives presented certainly did not facilitate the task of the jury, in which AIVP was a member. It does however fully testify to the interest which the European ports show in this theme, a growing interest which AIVP also notes for numerous other members of its worldwide network. The numerous facets and the breadth of the programme undertaken towards youth by the Port of Genoa, its impact, and the innovative character of certain of its actions finally led to the decision of the jury in its favour, in spite of all the interest of certain of the other propositions of the short list. The Port Center of Genoa and the creation of the networking of this type of approach was also a decisive element, an argument which can only please AIVP, as the Port of Genoa is also one of the founding members of the Port Center Network.
