Doctor of Sociology, Free University of Berlin, Germany. He is Coordinator and Researcher for the Comprehensive Research Programme for the Development of Port Cities – PROCIP.
He is a full-time sociology teacher on the Doctorate in Education programme as well as other courses taught by the Post-graduate Studies System of the Distance State University of Costa Rica. He is a guest lecturer at universities in Spain, Germany and Latin American countries. He has published several articles and spoken at international conferences.
In recent years his research topics have included: Maritime and port legislation, Micro and small businesses in ports in the Caribbean, the Maritime and port sector in Costa Rica, Value chains in artisanal fishing.
