AIVP attended mid-September the Smart Rivers Conference organized by PIANC in Memphis, USA. AIVP was represented by Noémi Mené, Project Leader Sustainable Mobility and River Port Cities. First time participant to this biennial event focusing on the different challenges related to inland and river transportation, she explained the Connected River project in a session dedicated to Waterways Resilience. She highlighted the project’s different experimentations related to stakeholders’ engagement and gave some ideas on how to solve conflicts of use. She also shared the Flow Forward platform with the session’s participants.

The presentation was also an opportunity to present the work of the AIVP Working Group on River Port Cities.

Brightly organized, the conference was a good occasion to meet the global rivers community of professionals thanks to technical tours and sessions dedicated to present and help solve some of the challenges of building sustainable waterways transport systems that are long lasting and more respectful of the environment.
AIVP is happy to have met some of its newer and older members (such as the Brazilian Ministry of Ports and Airports, CEREMA, the Port of Bahia Blanca) during the conference and hope to continue the discussion with American partners in New York during the World Conference in November.
