On November 21, 2025, during the AIVP World Conference – New York 2025, Didier Wauters, Deputy Mayor of the City of Brussels, representing Mayor Philippe Close, signed the Agenda 2030 by AIVP, thus joining the Port of Brussels, which had already committed to it. This act confirms the shared desire of the City and the Port to strengthen their cooperation in the interests of sustainable economic development and the quality of life of the people of Brussels.
On this occasion, Didier Wauters recalled the long-standing collaboration between the City and the Port of Brussels. The signing of the 2030 Agenda reaffirms the municipal commitment to environmentally friendly economic development based on reducing ecological impacts, promoting the circular economy, and protecting biodiversity.
This initiative is part of a cross-cutting approach involving companies based around the port, which play an essential role in the capital’s economic activity. Together, these players are creating a virtuous circle that will make the city more resilient, more sustainable, and more forward-looking.
