Following Ireland’s target of 7 GW of offshore wind power by 2030, the Port of Waterford plans to expand its capacity to support offshore renewable projects, including the Tonn Nua offshore wind farm and other future projects across the Celtic Sea. In the UK, the Port of Tyne is developing into a major hub for offshore wind, hosting Ørsted’s operations for the £8.5 billion Hornsea 3 project. The port has also announced a £150 million redevelopment plan to enhance offshore wind manufacturing capabilities. In Canada, Nova Scotia’s government released a joint strategic direction for offshore wind, with a call for bids. This global trend coincides with the opening of WindScape Brooklyn, a new learning centre for offshore wind education and innovation in New York (USA).
