Activities

Open on both sides of the Mediterranean, the Port of Marseille Fos, number one port in France, is the natural southern gateway to the European market. It offers spaces and infrastructures that can accommodate maritime, logistics and industrial activities. In 2018, the traffic of the Port of Marseille Fos amounted to 81 million tons with more than 1.4 million containers and 1.7 million cruise passengers. The Port of Marseille Fos consists in two complementary harbours: the eastern harbour in Marseilles as a regional hub dedicated to shortsea traffic and passengers, and the western harbour in Fos as an international industrial and container hub. It is the only port in the western Mediterranean to benefit from four pre and post freight dispatching modes - rail, river, road and pipelines. Through the development of railfreight solutions, the Port of Marseille Fos plans to widen a comprehensive and adapted multimodal network over long-distance European hinterland.
