Activities

Valparaiso holds Chile’s most important container and passenger port. In operation since 1810, the Port of Valparaiso has been an intimate partner in the development of both the city and the country. It is administered under a land tenancy model, with the Empresa Portuaria Valparaíso acting as the authority, which, through their strategic guidelines, lay down determining considerations for a modern port: increasing the capacity of its infrastructure in line with demand; improving its logistical effectiveness and efficiency; and promoting an innovative sustainable development, with a predominant concern for citizen welfare. The port lives side-by-side with the city of Valparaiso. The authority administers and conserves public spaces with a high urban value and generates projects to permit the existence of greater harmony between the two entities.
