Carlos Moreno is a renowned urban planner and French-Colombian professor based in Paris. He is best known for pioneering the concept of the "15-minute city | 30-minute territory," which promotes a sustainable and human-centered urban way of life. This concept has been widely adopted by mayors and international organizations working for more sustainable cities around the world, and has become a global movement. In Paris, his ideas were adopted by the city’s mayor, Anne Hidalgo, contributing to the city’s transformation. As a scientific advisor to various international organizations, he is recognized for his contributions to urban planning. He is also a member of the American Academy of Housing and Communities. A professor at IAE Paris Sorbonne, Université Paris 1 Panthéon-Sorbonne, his work has received international recognition, including the OBEL Award in 2021, the UN-Habitat Honorary Plaque in 2022, and the Global Leadership Award for Sustainable Development at UN Headquarters in 2024 during the 19th Global Forum on Human Settlements. In 2023, he was elected to Sigma Xi, the world’s largest scientific honor society, founded in 1886 at Cornell University.
