MedCities hosted the event “Coastal Cities along the Mediterranean: governance strategies for port & city interactions” in Tangiers (Morocco), aimed at discussing effective and transferable port-city governance models that support the commitment to tackle major sustainability challenges. Mr. Mohamed Ouanaya, treasurer of the AIVP and Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of SAPT and SGPTV SA of Tangiers, represented and spoke on behalf of the AIVP during this event. He highlighted the fact that although there may be tensions in the port-city relation, it is necessary to collaborate to address the various sustainable development challenges. He noted that port-city governance is one of the 10 goals of the Agenda 2030 by the AIVP, which is focused on sustainable development. Mr. John Hanna from PortCityFutures was another speaker, who highlighted the ecosystem nature of Port-Cities. The event allowed the exchange of good practices on key topics such as finance, international projects, and sustainability.
