The Port of Tarragona, located in the second metropolitan area of Catalonia and at a strategic crossroads of communications, is one of the most important ports in the western Mediterranean. With origins dating back to 218 BC and decisive development beginning in 1789, the port today covers more than 1,200 hectares, with a 5-km breakwater and depths of up to 20 meters. It stands out as a port primarily dedicated to energy and agri-food activities.
In vehicle traffic, it is one of the best-rated ports by the Spanish automotive industry, and it strengthens its leadership in project cargo and projects linked to renewable energies. It also offers extensive strategic areas for the offshore wind industry. Innovation and sustainability are priorities, with the advanced use of drones, modern emergency systems, and electrification and clean-energy projects.
On the civic side, the Moll de Costa welcomed more than 179,000 visitors in 2024, consolidating the port as a cultural and social space. Thanks to its location, its diversity of cargo, its sustainable approach, and its integration with the city, the Port of Tarragona is a key driver of economic, social, and cultural development for the territory.
