On November 19, AIVP and Green Marine International renewed their cooperation, which began in 2018, by signing a new memorandum of understanding. This should amplify the impact of the joint actions carried out by each of our organizations in the service of more sustainable, more responsible ports that are better integrated into their territories.

This updated memorandum paves the way for closer cooperation in several key areas:

1/ Adapt the Green Marine International environmental program to European ports, within the framework of Green Marine Europe certification, incorporating the specific features of the European regulatory framework.

2/ Explore the integration of the priorities of the AIVP’s 2030 Agenda into GMI certifications for an even more consistent approach to environmental and societal issues.

3/ Identify international synergies in order to better support the members of our two organizations and accelerate the dissemination of best practices.

4/ Connecting our networks, enriching our communities

The two organizations will also continue to collaborate on:

  • cross-promotion of their events,
  • reciprocal participation in general assemblies,
  • exchange of resources, content, and expertise,
  • mutual membership at the organizational level.

This is a concrete way of strengthening the links between the port, the city, citizens, and all stakeholders in the maritime sector.

This protocol commits GMI and AIVP until 2030, with a joint review scheduled at that date to assess progress and define future prospects.

“Together with Green Marine International, we are acting at the heart of the port ecosystem,” emphasized Bruno Delsalle, Executive Director of AIVP. “This protocol strengthens our ability to support port authorities and their industrial partners in the concrete implementation of the AIVP 2030 Agenda commitments for the benefit of the sustainable development of the City Port territories.”

“We are moving toward a more global vision of port performance,” said David Bolduc, President and CEO of Green Marine International. “This expanded partnership with AIVP enables us to further align our efforts, reinforce the credibility of environmental initiatives, and support our members in increasingly demanding regulatory and territorial contexts.”
