In 2025, the AIVP reached an important milestone with the creation of a permanent representation for North America, based in Quebec City (Canada), at the Port of Quebec. The official launch of this representation took place on January 15, 2026. The project has the support of the City of Quebec, the Port of Quebec, and the Government of Quebec. Jean-François Simard, Minister responsible for the Capitale-Nationale region, Bruno Marchand, Mayor of Quebec City, and Olga Farman, CEO of the Port of Quebec and Vice-President of AIVP International, were present for the launch.
AIVP’s mission will remain the same, but will be more strongly supported in the region. This new entity aims to animate the North American network, develop partnerships, and promote port cities in Canada, the United States, Mexico, and the Caribbean. This representation will connect North American port territories to other regions of the AIVP network and enable Quebec City to become a centre of expertise in port-city relations, benefiting communities and their partners. By choosing Quebec City, the AIVP is betting on a dynamic territory that is integrated into its community and mobilizes to strengthen city-port cooperation in North America.
