On January 29, Lucile Audièvre travelled to Brest (France) at the invitation of the Chair Port and Maritime Transition to take part in a discussion dedicated to the city-port relationship. The meeting aimed to deepen reflections on the reciprocal links between the city and the port.

Discussions focused in particular on the materiality of the city-port interface, the specific urban, landscape and economic characteristics of port cities, as well as issues related to identity and social and environmental acceptability. The event was held as part of the “Cafés du Port”, a series of roundtables and science outreach events organised by the Chair, dedicated to exploring the role of the port within the city and its future development.

Created in 2023, the Chair “Port and Maritime Transitions” is the first French academic chair dedicated to port and maritime territories and industries. Its objective is to provide a platform for dialogue and knowledge-sharing between the University and all institutional and industrial stakeholders in the port and maritime sectors.

During this visit, Lucile Audièvre also met with the Port of Brest and Brest Métropole, both active members of AIVP.
