The European branch of CLIA, the organisation that represents professionals in the cruise sector, met in Paris (France) from 8 to 10 March for its annual summit. Over 250 industry professionals discussed the revival of the cruise sector and its transformation into a low-carbon, locally-integrated tourism industry. Edouard Philippe, President of AIVP, was invited as a keynote speaker along representatives of major institutions including Thierry Breton, EU Commissioner for Industry and the Internal Market, the CEO of Chantiers de l’Atlantique, Laurent Castaing, and Pier Francesco Vago, Executive Chairman of MSC Cruises. Our President spoke about the regeneration projects currently underway in his city of Le Havre, and shared the recommendations contained in the AIVP 2030 Agenda for sustainable port cities. This framework document sets out a number of goals that tie into the environmental and social aspects of the cruise industry.
