New member interview: City of Calais

The city of Calais, a historic link between France, the North Sea, and the British Isles, lies on what is known as the Opal Coast, in the Pas-de-Calais département. Its commercial and fishing port has experienced rapid growth since merging with the nearby port of Boulogne-sur-Mer, and the city’s busy ferry terminal is the largest in France. In 2024, our course program on sustainable port cities continues – Registration Open!

The program offer in-depth knowledge on subjects as diverse as governance, the circular economy and energy transition, underwater ecosystems in port areas, heritage and city-port identity, and the impact of criminal activity on the quality of life of port city residents. Speakers include experts, academics and international civil servants from various countries and continents. The course are designed to support you in the exercise of your professional practice, but also to create links, thus fostering fruitful collaboration on a local and global scale, as highlighted by many participants in the satisfaction surveys we have carried out. A new edition will take place in October 2024; registration is now open!
