On June 13, 2025, the newspaper Les Echos published a collective opinion piece signed by about thirty personalities, including Prince Albert II of Monaco, on the occasion of the 3rd United Nations Ocean Conference (UNOC 3) in Nice, fully aligned with AIVP’s commitments.
Titled “Oceans: the blue economy is organizing, but time is running out,” the article issues a clear call: the economy and finance must commit alongside states to build a sustainable blue economy that creates value while respecting the marine environment.
A strong message that we at AIVP fully share.
Mobilizing finance in service of the ocean
The piece reminds us that public and philanthropic funding are essential but insufficient: scaling up requires massive mobilization of private capital.
Port cities: key players in the blue economy
At the intersection of maritime, economic, and urban issues, port cities are crucial actors in the blue transition. For more than 30 years, AIVP has supported these territories in their sustainable development efforts: climate adaptation, port area redevelopment, marine renewable energies, participatory governance, social inclusion… All key levers for a fair and resilient blue economy.
UNOC 3: beyond intentions, the time for action
We will continue to support our members in this ambition by fostering cooperation between territories, promoting best practices, and amplifying the voice of port cities in major international debates.
