AIVP and FAO host the 5th Workshop of the Blue Ports Initiative

From November 27th to 29th, the Moroccan port city of Tangier hosted the 5th workshop of the Blue Ports Initiative (BPI), the program established by FAO to support the creation of Blue ports, i.e. fishing ports embracing blue economy principles and activities. The focus of this new workshop sharing knowledge and experiences on how to strengthen the relationship between cities and ports as a strategic action for local value creation.

Press release – Launch of the AIVP Prize Antoine Rufenacht

On 16 and 17 November 2023, the AIVP world conference was held in Venice on the following theme: linking ports and citizens, a shared vision of the future. On this occasion, Edouard Philippe - President of the AIVP, Mayor of Le Havre (France), and former French Prime Minister officially announced the launch of the AIVP Prize Antoine Rufenacht. The prize will honour, from 2024 onwards, a world port city that has completed an outstanding development project.

10th Meeting of the AIVP – MedCruise Working Group on Cruises and Port Cities

On Wednesday, 22 November 2023, AIVP and MedCruise held the 10th meeting of the joint Working Group (“WG”) on Cruises and Port Cities. The online rendez-vous was co-hosted by Mr. José Sánchez, representing AIVP and Mrs. Noemi Frascella, Director of the MedCruise Board of Directors. After the opening greetings from Mr. Nicky Guerrero and Ms. Anja Lohrum - respectively Medcruise Secretary General and Senior Secretariat Advisor.

AIVP Venice 2023: 300 participants gathered to envision the future of port cities

It closed on Saturday, November 18, with technical visits to the port infrastructure of Venice-Marghera, the world conference of port cities, which had a record international participation for AIVP events of this kind: 45 speakers 320 registered delegates coming from 41 countries. The goal was to discuss a new model of relationship between port institutions, citizens and stakeholders to overcome together the increasingly urgent challenges that every city faces in a scenario of climate emergency and - in some contexts - also of economic and social crisis.
